I’ve spent GH₵500,000 on my injured arm — McBrown
Actress Nana Ama McBrown has spoken candidly about the immense physical, emotional and financial burden she has carried in her long recovery journey following a car accident more than 10 years ago.
In an interview on TV3’s New Day programme with Cookie T on December 17, 2025, McBrown revealed that her medical bills in just the past few months have climbed close to GH¢500,000, underscoring the continuing toll of injuries she sustained in the 2013 crash.
She explained that the cost tells only part of the story, describing the ordeal as one marked by pain, stress and emotional exhaustion. According to her, recovery is an intensely personal experience, one that cannot be fully outsourced to others no matter the support available.
McBrown recounted that her rehabilitation has required disciplined and demanding physiotherapy, beginning with early morning sessions at the 37 Military Hospital and continuing later in the day at home. She said she had to work on her injured arm daily, using a stimulation machine she was trained to operate as part of her treatment.
Despite the hardship, the actress expressed deep gratitude for how far she has come, disclosing that she has undergone a total of five surgeries since the accident. She described the most recent procedure as her final one and said she is relieved that the pain that once dominated her life has subsided.
McBrown added that while the encouragement of family and friends has been invaluable, the journey to healing ultimately demands personal resilience and inner strength, a lesson she has learned through years of perseverance.
