British-Ghanaian entrepreneur and humanitarian Akosua Dentaa Amoateng has been named the 2025 Global Africa Woman of the Year by the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD).
The recognition, announced by Dentaa in a social media post on Tuesday, December 9, celebrates her work in advancing African excellence and strengthening connections across the global African diaspora.
She described the honour as a reaffirmation of her long-standing commitment to community building and empowerment.
“I am deeply honoured to be named 2025 Most Influential Global Africa Woman of the Year by MIPAD,” she wrote.
Dentaa further noted that the award highlights the collective progress made by Africans worldwide.
“This recognition is a reminder of the work we continue to do across the diaspora connecting, building, and empowering our global African community,” she noted.
Founded in 2015, MIPAD is a global civil society initiative supporting the United Nations’ International Decade for People of African Descent.
It identifies and celebrates high achievers of African descent across sectors worldwide.

Her accomplishments have previously earned her global recognition, including being appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2016 and receiving the Ghana Peace Awards Humanitarian Service Laureate in 2017.
Dentaa congratulated fellow recipients and pledged to remain committed to uplifting the continent.
“Our collective impact is a testament to what happens when purpose meets commitment,” she noted.
Meanwhile, Nigerian economist and former President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank, Benedict Okechukwu “Okey” Oramah, won the Global Africa Man of the Year by the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD).
