Ghana would be blessed to have Bawumia as President — Kofi Bentil

Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil

Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has praised former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, saying Ghana would be fortunate to have him as President.

Bentil’s remarks came on Monday, December 8, 2025, exactly one year after Dr. Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer in the 2024 general elections, delivered an early concession speech, easing tensions during a highly charged election period.

The move was widely applauded both locally and internationally for its statesmanship.

Reacting on social media, Bentil said the former Vice President put the nation above personal or party interests.

“A patriot and statesman puts his country above himself. Dr Bawumia saved this nation a lot of mayhem,” he wrote.

He added that Dr. Bawumia’s calm and wise leadership paved the way for a peaceful transition.

“It’s a blessing from God that a party or a nation is led by a good man, a wise man, a calm man, a smart man, who prefers peace and calm to noise and rancor, one who will always do what is right even at his own cost,” Bentil said.

Bentil further urged Ghanaians to support leaders of such calibre, asserting his conviction that Dr. Bawumia is the best person to lead both his party and the nation.

Meanwhile, the former Vice President and one-time presidential candidate is contesting to lead the NPP again in the 2028 general elections. The party will hold the next flagbearer contest on January 31, 2026.
