Vituperation Against Kennedy Agyapong: Lawyer Atta Kyea takes over From Abronye DC

It is obvious that Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong's issue-base campaign has caused fear and panic in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's camp.

Dr. Bawumia and his spinners launched their campaign, writing off Ken, claiming he is not a presidential material. The former Assin Central lawmaker, however, proved them wrong by conducting his campaign in a decent manner.

Beyond the decency of his campaign is the clarity of his message. Leveraging his business ideas, Ken has been giving graphical explanation of how he would Industrialise Ghana to create jobs for the youth of the country. This has stimulated public interest in his campaign, thereby causing more fear and panic in Dr. Bawumia's camp.

Surfice to state that before Ken stole the hearts of Ghanaians with his superior ideas as espoused in his campaign message, Dr. Bawumia had claimed that he is just a wealthy man who thinks it takes wealth to govern a country. That, wealth doesn't govern but ideas rather do. Ironically, however, the former Vice President has been touting himself as the man of ideas without demonstrating same in his campaign.

Convicted that Ken's message had found permanent space in the hearts of the NPP delegates and Ghanaians in general, Dr. Bawumia and his team devised a strategy to provoke the former lawmaker and business mogul. That is how they released Mr. Kwame Baffoe commonly called Abronye DC to wage war of verbal abuse against Ken.

Ken, however, shocked them by responding to none of his insults. The result of this was the complete rejection of Abronye DC in his own region as delegates booed him on stage for throwing jabs at Ken. Shamefully, he distanced himself from Dr. Bawumia's campaign after that incident. For fear that the delegates would transfer their rejection of Abronye DC to Dr. Bawumia, the former Vice President also denounced him despite offering him their platform to campaign and insult Ken.

Perhaps, the camp of Dr. Bawumia still believes that they can't win the NPP presidential primaries unless Ken is provoked to mess up his own campaign. For this reason, they have come out with another version of Abronye DC in the person of Lawyer Samuel Atta Kyea, a former Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South.

The supposed gentleman, who claims he is more cultured than Ken, has without provocation, passed comments to demean and lower the image of the philanthropist in the eyes of Ghanaians. As human as anyone else, there is no way Ken will not be pained and peeved by the comments this lawyer and former MP has passed against him. Nonetheless, for the sake of his campaign and the general good of Ghanaians, Ken has decided not to respond to "Abronye DC II."

Lawyer Atta Kyea ended up putting himself in the bracket of a situational irony as he launched more misiles against Ken. In one of his interviews with a female journalist, he made it obvious that his goal is to provoke Ken. To achieve this, he launched another misiles of provocative comments against the Assin Central lawmaker and went on to conclude that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will ride over the NPP with Ken as their flagbearer. What a situational Irony!

This opinion, however, is not only weak and illogical, but also, a poorly calculated propaganda that should be treated as the claims of a frustrated team that is dazed and bamboozled by Ken's appealing message.

If there is someone in the NPP that the NDC can easily ride over in an election, it is Dr. Bawumia, Lawyer Atta Kyea's favorite. He is the flagbearer with the most abysmal performance record against the NDC and this was experienced in the most recent elections -- the 2024 national polls. The reason for his rejection is still fresh in the minds of the Ghanaian voters.

Moreover, Dr. Bawumia has not only portrayed himself to the Ghanaian voter as a dishonest man who does not walk his talk, but has also made the NPP to appear same. After giving sound economic lectures in 2016, he promised to lead the NPP to manage the economy better than the NDC. Unfortunately, Dr. Bawumia ended up leading his party into irrefutable embarrassment as the economy sunk under his watch as the Head of the Economic Management Team.

He has also lost the confidence of both Muslims and Christians as a politician. While the Christians may be uncomfortable with him as the leader of the nation, Muslims view him as a traitor and a bad example to the Islamic religious faith. No wonder he performed poorly in both Christian and Muslim communities in the 2024 elections.

The NPP won the 2016 elections, campaigning on the economy so did the NDC in 2024. Unfortunately, however, the NPP and Dr. Bawumia would not have the temerity to campaign on the economy with the former Vice President as their flagbearer. And if they do, they would appear like clowns to the voters. I leave you to guess the reason for this claim, which is an open secret.

If Dr. Bawumia wants Ghanaians to accept him, he should prove that he has attended Vice Presidential Remedial College and recovered from his bad economic management skills. He should also repent from his religious prostitution to win the confidence of his Muslim people. Ken has already worked on his weakness and the Bawimia camp has helped him to prove that by putting him to a test of verbal abuse.
