Mansa Musa's Spade is a Spade Series
In the countries whose football we admire and comment on so much, their football is still being managed/controlled by the stars of the late 70s, 80s and 90s. In Ghana, why have those our soccer legends been cast aside. read on.
1. Covid19 matters
In the he UK this morning, Sky News, Covid19 inquest and reports still ongoing. In Ghana, I want to know when will Covid19 which Akufo Addo, Bawumia, Ken Ofori Atta, Bryan Acheampong, and rest of the npp crew told us affected Ghana more than anywhere else. That which precipitated everything miserable that can happen to a nation, including economic/financial force majeure that resulted in the seizures of private savings from pensioners. When will that bloody inquest start. Mr. President, if you don't know, people who benefited unlawfully from that rot are today walking free and laughing in our faces. Action is needed in that department and quickly.
2. Ken Ofori Atta extradition saga
So frustrating, if not utterly disheartening to read and to hear about the inconclusive development surrounding the efforts or quests to get the former finance minister Ken Ofori Atta back to Ghana to answer/help in the investigations and audit into the management of the economy during the time in which he, Ken Ofori Atta was the key architect within that management setup which of course included Bawumia and Amin Adam MP. Now we are hearing that The former fugitive, Ken Ofori Atta's extradition to Ghana is becoming more precarious given the announcement that the American authorities have removed the _wanted_ status on Ken Ofori Atta due to some emerging legal reasons.
The problem is, the Akufo Addo/Bawumia government sold our sovereign birthright to America. And with that bitter pill the expectation was that we gain some favourable bilateral treatment through that geopolitical alliance but it looks like as usual, America takes what it wants and we get whatever is given(good, bad, the absolute rubbish). Because if even in a case when we have displayed and demonstrated all the necessary legal and democratic approach to this Ken Ofori Atta matter. All in the hope or in believe that having ceded territories to the US armies, a favourable reciprocating returns will be accorded us. But no, as usual we are going to be left porous, hollow and empty or even vacuumed. Our lot. Shit!
3. Lithium, to sign or not to sign
Do I need to mention the revised lithium deal anymore? The other time I wrote that the sector minister should have come out with a statement that due to the current unfavourable price dynamics, we are putting on hold the lithium agreement till we find our own ways of coming to terms with lithium extraction and the use of that natural material. That announcement alone would make prices escalate(when I wrote this, one responder wrote to ask me, _"mansa, why are you not in the government"._ I replied that I am in the government, doing my work from outside the tent. From afar), instead our honourable minister is quick to acquiesce and conform to foreign partners demands. This is not good enough. This is a sellout, plain and simple, ask IMANI and other decerning Ghanaians.
4. Football
The current managers of our national game who think that even in this current state of Football in Ghana the football IQs of previous stars such The Dribbling Magician Mr. Mohammed Polo, Mr. Kuuku Dadze, Mr. Abdul Razak, Mr. Opoku Nti, Mr. Labadi pretty boy George Alhassan, Mr. Abedi Pele. Anyone thinking that the soccer brains of these football legends are inferior to what we have in the game today, hence being ignored, cast aside, you guys must start thinking again. After trial with Mr. Kwesi Appiah, the rest of that class will still be valuable if properly harnessed. Those in the top of football hierarchy in Ghana today have not demonstrated any superiority in administering and running of our football over the likes of those 70s and 80/90s class. Fact.
