Ho Municipal Assembly urges strong revenue mobilization efforts for effective governance

Ho MCE, Stephen Adom

Municipal Chief Executive Stephen Adom is rallying members of the Ho Municipal Assembly to intensify revenue mobilisation efforts, describing it as the backbone of the Assembly’s development agenda.

Speaking at the General Assembly Meeting on November 18, 2025, he announced that the Assembly had collected GH¢4,392,417.51 as of October 2025, representing 68 percent of its projected GH¢6,459,198.83 target for the year. He commended the progress made but stressed that the Assembly must push harder to meet its revenue expectations.

To strengthen local revenue performance, the MCE said the Assembly is finalising arrangements with Revenue Collection Agents to take charge of property rates, lorry park fees and tricycle or taxi rank fees. He added that facilities such as the Parks and Gardens Restaurant and the Jubilee Park Restaurant are being sublet to boost internally generated funds.

“In order to exploit our full revenue potentials, we are engaging Revenue Collection Agents to assist in collecting selected revenue items. Engagements have been exhaustive, and these agents will soon begin their operations,” he said.

Hon Adom further disclosed that government had released funds for the first and second quarters of the District Assemblies Common Fund, with the Assembly receiving GH¢2,220,957.52 and GH¢4,590,707.51 respectively. He said the releases would strengthen the Assembly’s ability to deliver essential services.

The MCE also announced that the Assembly is set to award eleven contracts for a new round of development projects. These include the construction of CHPS compounds at Takla and Ziavi, classroom blocks at Nyive, Kpenoe and Hodzo, and nurses’ quarters at Matse and Tokokoe. The Assembly will also drill and mechanise thirty boreholes and install a 150KVA power plant at its office premises.

He noted that the procurement of 1000 mono desks and 1000 dual desks for selected schools has been placed on hold following directives from the Ministry.

Adom appealed to Assembly members to help strengthen revenue mobilisation, emphasising proper accountability and urging all renters to honour their obligations. He said the Assembly will intensify the printing and distribution of property bills and improve monitoring systems to address challenges such as low compliance.

Despite the difficulties, the MCE expressed confidence that with unity and cooperation, the Assembly will achieve its goals. He highlighted that the projects underway would enhance healthcare, improve educational infrastructure and upgrade basic services, creating a better living environment for residents and making the municipality more attractive to investors.

He stressed that collective responsibility remains key to delivering safer roads, improved schools and stronger health facilities across the municipality.
