Afenyo-Markin will be remembered as one of Ghana’s most effective Minority Leaders — Dr Zaato
Policy Analyst and Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Joshua Jebuntie Zaato, has lauded the performance of Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
According to him, the Effutu Member of Parliament will be remembered as one of Ghana’s most consequential and effective Minority Leaders.
In a social media post on Tuesday, November 11, Dr Zaato described Afenyo-Markin as a “vanguard of Ghana’s fledgling democracy.”
“Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin will go down in history as one of the most consequential and effective Minority Leaders in Ghana. In dark times like these, you are a vanguard of our fledgling democracy,” he wrote.
His remarks come after the Minority Leader’s objection to the vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.
The Minority caucus and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) described the vetting as a disregard for the rule of law, citing pending court cases filed by former Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Torkonoo.
Led by Mr Afenyo-Markin, who also serves as Ranking Member of the Appointments Committee, the caucus rejected the nominee and staged a walkout during the vetting.
