Government reduces passport fees to GH₵350 effective 13 November

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

The government has announced a reduction in the cost of acquiring an ordinary 32-page passport, lowering the fee from GH₵500 to GH₵350.

The new rate, which represents a decrease of more than 25 percent, will take effect from Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, made the announcement, explaining that the decision forms part of efforts to make passports more affordable and accessible to all Ghanaians while maintaining the highest security standards.

“The government recognises concerns about the affordability of the new passport and is committed to ensuring that the cost remains reasonable while maintaining high security standards. In our effort to make passports more accessible to all Ghanaians, and per the instruction I have received from the President, we are pleased to announce that the cost of the ordinary passport booklet, the 32-page, will be reduced from GH₵500 to GH₵350,” Mr Ablakwa said.

He further revealed that the ministry is introducing a door-to-door passport delivery service under a new 24-hour service initiative to enhance efficiency and convenience for applicants.

The move comes in response to growing public concerns about passport affordability and accessibility. It also reflects the government’s broader commitment to improving public service delivery and easing the cost burden on citizens while ensuring that passport issuance remains secure and efficient.
