Is Volta Region The Next Economic Hub..?
Volta Region is attracting media attention for all the good reasons, either by the divine providence or strategic government policy to transform the region as the next economic hub in Ghana.
Conferences and seminars are being directed to the Volta Region, The notable ones were the Volta Economic Forum, The 12th Annual conference of Chairpersons of Governing Board/ Councils, Chief Directors, Chief Executives of Public Services and others.
The 41st National Farmer's Day will be hosted at Ho in the Volta Region. Some of the activities directed to the Volta Region may be the handing work of the Regional Minister Mr James Gunu who is very calm determined and result oriented person.
Looking at Hon. James Gunu exploits from afar reminds me of Colonel John Augustine. Kabore, the Volta Regional Commissioner during the Supreme Military Council (SMC) era under the leadership of General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong. Up till this day the late Colonel Kabore name is synonymous with Volta Region likewise Colonel George Minyila with the Eastern Region.
So far the Volta Regional Minister Mr James Gunu appears to be a hands-on leader and if he continue to operate diligently at the same frequency or more intense frequency at the end of his tenure as the regional minister his name will be etched on the minds of most Ghanaians.
Let us encourage Ministers and Appointees who have shown the capacity and determination to execute their mandate with alarcrity. Looking at the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, he is showing some efforts and determination in a hostile environment therefore he needs maximum support and cooperation.
