Woman arrested for inciting violence against soldiers in Garu
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Lariba Alhassan for allegedly inciting residents of Garu to attack and kill soldiers deployed to maintain peace in the area.
Her arrest, which took place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, follows the circulation of a viral audio recording in which she was heard calling on residents to engage in acts of violence against security personnel.
According to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman Sumaila, Public Relations Officer for the region, the suspect also “urged the youth to burn houses and attack dignitaries.”
Lariba Alhassan is currently in police custody and will be arraigned before court at a date to be announced later.
The Upper East Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, stressing that acts that threaten the peace and safety of residents in Garu will not be tolerated.
