Disregard social media posts advertising protocol recruitment into security services — CSA advises

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has cautioned the public against responding to social media messages and posts that advertise so-called protocol recruitment into the security services.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 27, the Authority urged the public to “disregard any messages or posts advertising protocol recruitment into security services.”

The Authority stressed that genuine recruitment processes are handled only through official government channels.

It also advised the public that “genuine employers do not charge any fees for applications, tests, or training; any payment request is a clear sign of fraud.”

The caution comes after the Authority uncovered 86 fake social media accounts impersonating the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), its officers, and the high command since the commencement of the 2025 enlistment exercise.

According to the CSA, the identified accounts have been luring job seekers through legitimate-looking advertisements and convincing them to pay for medical exams, application forms, and background checks, only to later realize it was a scam.

The Authority said it is working with social media platforms to take down the fake accounts while investigations continue.
