Firefighters rescue two after car plunges into ditch at Mpraeso

Firefighters in Mpraeso spent more than six hours rescuing two men trapped after their vehicle veered off the Kwahu–Abetifi–Abene road and crashed into a deep ditch on Tuesday.

A rescue team led by Station Officer II Sanusi Issah arrived at the scene to find the driver pinned inside the mangled vehicle. After hours of intense work with cutting equipment, the team successfully extricated the victim and his passenger.

Both men were immediately handed over to the National Ambulance Service and transported to the Atibie Government Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by brake failure. The violent impact left the front of the car completely wrecked.

Officers from the National Intelligence Bureau, including Mr. Banahene, and Emergency Medical Technician Mr. Brobbey were also present to support the operation.

The Mpraeso Fire Station has since advised motorists to prioritize regular vehicle maintenance and safety checks, stressing that negligence and mechanical faults remain leading causes of such avoidable road crashes.
