NPP race: Ken first, Bryan second, Bawumia third on flagbearer ballot
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has completed the balloting process to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper for its upcoming presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The exercise, held at the party’s national headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, officially set the order for the five aspirants cleared to contest.
After the draw, Assin Central MP Ken Ohene Agyapong secured the first position on the ballot, followed by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, in the second spot.
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took the third position, with Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong appearing in fourth and fifth places respectively.
The process was supervised by the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, which ensured a fair and transparent exercise in line with the party’s democratic traditions.
In a statement issued before the balloting, Secretary to the Committee, William Yamoah, congratulated all aspirants for successfully completing the vetting process and commended them for their commitment to upholding the NPP’s internal democratic values.
“The Chairman of the Committee has directed me to extend appreciation to all aspirants for their participation in the balloting, which will now determine the order in which their names appear on the January 31st presidential primary ballot,” the statement said.
Aspirants were also encouraged to contact the committee for any clarification or additional information ahead of the primary.
