The 'sins' of Sam George!
"Thanks to the roaring of Sam George, l watched Chelsea demolish Liverpool lying in my sofa!"
Sam Dzata George's running mouth has caused enormous trouble for the NPP to warrant their call for his head.
It reminds me of the call for the head of John the Baptist by Herod's daughter after he was jailed for his doomsday preaching!
Well, she got John's head, but l doubt if the Minority MPs will ever lay their hands on Sam George's head.
Sam George was the face of the country's anti-gay bill. His fiesty fight against the LGBTQ doctrine brought him remarkable public support and praise. Of course the opposition did not necessarily see him in the same light.
SG was one of the talkatives who hounded the NPP's Nana Addo out of office with his bristling media attacks. He is always a tough customer for the opposition in public discourse.
He has serially won the Ningo-Prampram seat, almost replacing the late ET Mensah as the Robert Mugabe of Pampram politics. None of these has kept him in the good books of the opposition understandably.
l remember his ferocious take-downs of the previous Communication Minister for her management of the ministry. Thus, when he became the substantive minister, we all waited to see what he would do differently after savaging Ursula Owusu so disparagingly.
It looks like SG is walking his talk. Since taking over the job, he has negotiated adjustment to data pricing by the telcos to cushion consumers. I wouldn't say the reduction was any significant, but he earned public support for his effort.
And now his latest war of words with dstv and his dramatic success at compelling the monopoly to make adjustments in their pricing to advantage consumers seems to have aroused the opposition from slumber. They have unleashed their bulldogs on his shin.
I was one of those who dumped my dstv for their unreasonable price hikes. While the price adjustments were prolific, it did not necessarily lead to improvement in program quality.
In fury, l ditched the service indefinitely until Sam George roared home his package of reliefs. Monopolies only listen to loud roars.
In spite of the blistering call by the MPs for the Minister's head, my package has been restored with comparatively less payment. Thanks to the roaring of Sam George, l watched Chelsea demolish Liverpool lying in my sofa!
Whether the relief lasts for a month or two is irrelevant to me now. I am used to having no help from garrulous politicians. Sam George's roaring package of reliefs is "breakthrough" for slim pockets like mine. How could the Minority get it so wrong?
What the hell are the Minority MPs huffing and puffing about? They want a minister whose work is visibly, measurably, creditably cushioning ordinary citizens to be sacked! Where is the logic?
What Sam George has done is what we expect from our political appointees. Politicians are so used to ignoring the cries of the poor that they would bring him down who dares to fight for the masses.
Unless the Minority is peeved with the Communication Minister's relative success with dstv, and unhappy with his continuous take-downs of the NPP at the least opportunity, their posturing is flatulent, a bombastic hoax!
Corporate monopolies must not exploit citizens unfairly and politicians must defend the poor from powerful conglomerates at all times.
So you tell me, between Sam George and the unhappy Minority, whose head should we be grilling?
