Kasoa: Okada rider dies after being hit by speeding trotro at Tetegu

A fatal accident at Tetegu on the Accra-Kasoa stretch has claimed the life of an okada rider, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. when the motorcycle, carrying a passenger, was struck by a commercial bus, popularly known as a trotro. Eyewitnesses said the bus ran over the rider, inflicting severe head injuries that led to his death.

The victim, who operated from Old Barrier on the Kasoa road, was well known in the area for his work as an okada rider. His passenger survived the accident but sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

According to witnesses, the driver of the trotro fled the scene immediately after the collision, sparking calls for justice from residents. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the mortuary.

Colleague riders at Old Barrier expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a painful reminder of the dangers they face daily. They also raised concerns about reckless driving and poor road safety measures, stressing the urgent need for stronger protections for vulnerable road users, including motorcyclists.
