Chiefs urged to be humble, foster unity in their jurisdictions to spearhead development

Nana Appiah Baidu VII, Chief of Gomoa Mpota in the Gomoa Central District has been installed as the Omankrado of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area with a call on traditional leaders to be humbled and foster unity in their communities and beyond.

Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI who made the call after the newly installed Omankrado swore the Oath of Allegiance to him and Nananom at Gomoa Ajumako last Friday, cautioned Chiefs to serve their people in humility.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI noted that the core mandate of a traditional Leader is to inspire his people to ensure sustained unity and social cohesion in the community and its surrounding areas.

"Chiefs, as agents of development, ought to respect their subjects but not lord over them because respect is reciprocal; you receive exactly what you give out to others. This can be possible if there is unity and total stability of peace and tranquility," he stated.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI tasked Nana Appiah Baidu VII to cooperate fully with nananom in his community and the traditional area as a whole to build upon what had been there for the betterment of Gomoaman.

"As Omankrado, you are Second In-command to the Omanhene, so you should take inspiration to win the heart of Gomoaman.

"I expect nothing less than a leader who moves his people to make lives meaningful for the people. It is through this that your ancestors and Nananom would give you the support needed for your vision to become a reality.

"You are not a new person to the Traditional Council, expectation from you is high, so you ought to strive to succeed as Omankrado of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area bearing in mind that Nananom are epitome of Development," he stressed.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI urged Nananom to give the newly installed Omankrado the needed cooperation and support to push Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council forward in human and infrastructure development.

Later, in an interview with the media, Nana Appiah Baidu VII expressed his gratitude to Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI and his nananom for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to discharge his duties effectively.

He noted that their guidance and leadership had inspired him even before becoming the Omankrado, adding that every step of Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI was worthy of emulation.

"What I need from Nananom is unity of purpose to support Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI in his quest to ensure the well-being of individuals in the Traditional Area especially the youth who need inspiration from us to change their negative attitudes among themselves.

"With unity, we can create job opportunities for teeming unemployed youth in Gomoaman and beyond to be self-sufficient so as to contribute their quota towards National Development.

"I am hopeful that one day, Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI would become President of the National House of Chiefs; it will surely happen," Nana Appiah Baidu VII prophesied.

The Adontenhenemaa of Gomoa Mpota, Nana Adjoa Akyerem I congratulated Nana Appiah Baidu VII for his new job as Omankrado of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area.

She also lauded Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI for recognizing the selfless commitment of Nananom in Gomoa Mpota, especially Nana Appiah Baidu VII, towards the development of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area.

On Education, Nana Adjoa Akyerem I advised BECE graduands about to continue with their education at the Senior High School level.

She further urged the students, especially the girls, to stick to their books to achieve their future careers.
