'Campus is calm, secure' — Takoradi Technical University denies students clash with police

The management of Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has strongly denied reports of disturbances on its campus, describing such claims as false, misleading, and intended to misinform the public.

In a statement signed by the Registrar, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the University said its attention had been drawn to misleading media reports suggesting clashes between students and officers of the Ghana Police Service.

TTU insisted that “no such unrest has occurred” and urged the public to disregard any publications or images linking the University to disturbances. The statement stressed that the campus remains calm, secure, and focused on its mandate of teaching, learning, and research.

“TTU continues to uphold its enviable reputation as a peaceful centre of academic excellence and institutional integrity,” the statement added.

Management further advised the media to exercise due diligence by verifying information with the University’s Directorate of Public Affairs before publication to avoid misrepresentation.

The statement assured students, staff, parents, guardians, and stakeholders that TTU remains a safe, stable, and peaceful environment for scholarship and innovation.
