Prez Mahama and Dumsor Again? A Call for Permanent Solutions
The persistent dumsor (power crisis) in Ghana has created severe discomfort for citizens, with unpredictable outages affecting daily life. The manner in which electricity fluctuates without prior notice is frustrating and unacceptable. Should leadership be held accountable for failing to resolve this long-standing issue?
Despite Ghana’s well-paid political ministers, none have successfully eliminated the energy crisis. Do we still have an Energy Minister capable of finding solutions? Former President John Dramani Mahama extended electricity to many rural areas during his previous administration—but why hasn’t dumsor been permanently addressed?
Everything shows that Prez Mahama is a prepared visionary who can help solve this energy problem and ensure a lasting solution. For him to realize this vision for Ghana, the President, in collaboration with the Minister of Energy, must implement the following seven key strategies:
Expand Renewable Energy Sources – Investing in solar, wind, and hydroelectric power would diversify Ghana’s energy supply and reduce dependence on thermal plants.
Upgrade Energy Infrastructure – Improving transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems would minimize energy losses and stabilize power delivery.
Enhance Fuel Supply for Thermal Plants – Securing consistent gas and fuel sources would prevent shortages that disrupt electricity generation.
Increase Local Power Generation Capacity – Expanding existing power plants and building new ones would meet Ghana’s growing energy demands.
Strengthen Energy Sector Financing – Ensuring financial stability in the energy sector would prevent debts that hinder efficient operations.
Promote Energy Efficiency & Conservation – Encouraging smart energy use through policies and incentives reduces unnecessary consumption.
Enforce Transparent Energy Governance – Strengthening accountability and oversight would prevent mismanagement and corruption within the sector.
