Dormaa East DCE pays courtesy call on Mansen Divisional Chiefs, discusses 24-hour economy market project
The newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa East, Hon. Osei Owusu King, paid a courtesy call on the Mansen Divisional Chiefs of Wamfie on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
Accompanied by the Assembly’s Management Staff, the visit served as an official introduction to the traditional authority and as an opportunity to discuss key development initiatives and strengthen collaboration for the district’s progress.
The DCE also sought the blessings of the traditional leaders to support his tenure in office.
During the engagement, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Maxwell Mark Mensah, joined Hon. Owusu King in outlining the government's current development priorities.
Chief among them was the plan to construct a model market in Wamfie as part of the government’s 24-hour economy initiative. The DCE appealed to the chiefs for land to support the project’s implementation.
They further requested the support of the traditional council in tackling challenges affecting development in the district and welcomed the chiefs’ input, feedback, and cooperation to ensure the success of other initiatives.
In a welcome address, the Mansen Mawrehene and Nseseresuhene, Nana Kumtwie Asamaoh, congratulated the DCE on his appointment. He reaffirmed the traditional council’s readiness to work with the DCE and the Assembly in advancing the socio-economic development of the district.
The Queen Mother of the Mansen Traditional Area, Nana Ama Pomaa Tutuwaa, expressed appreciation for the 24-hour economy market initiative. She pledged her full support by offering the Wamfie Friday Market site and surrounding plots—including personal land initially earmarked for durbar grounds and other community projects—for the proposed development.
Also present at the meeting were market women representatives, Assembly members, staff of the District Assembly, and traditional leaders.
The Queen Mother of the Wamfie Daily Market, Madam Esther Ansu, expressed gratitude for the upcoming model market and reaffirmed the traders' readiness to support and patronize it. She appealed for the proper maintenance of their current facilities as they await the new development.
