Oti Regional Minister champions peace building in Nkwanta

In a significant step towards promoting peace and stability in Nkwanta, the Oti Regional Minister, Hon John Kwadwo Gyapong, chaired a crucial meeting of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) with the three main ethnic groups in Nkwanta — the Adele, Challa, and Akoyde.

The meeting, which also included members of the Municipal Security Committee of the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly, aimed to strengthen existing security measures and foster deeper collaboration among stakeholders.

The meeting culminated in a unanimous agreement among the chiefs and elders that peace is the top priority for the people of Nkwanta.

The Oti Regional Minister expressed his deep appreciation for their commitment to adhering to the directives of REGSEC and their readiness to support peace initiatives.

The Minister reminded the chiefs and leaders present of the standing directive regarding the ban on festival celebrations within Nkwanta, citing public safety and harmony as the reasons behind the decision. He urged all traditional leaders to cooperate fully in working towards a lasting resolution of the issues affecting the area.

Hon John Kwadwo Gyapong reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring lasting peace in Nkwanta, emphasizing that peacebuilding is a shared responsibility. He pledged to engage the youth and other relevant groups within the municipality, stressing the importance of unity, dialogue, and mutual respect in restoring calm and stability to Nkwanta.
