Prestea Huni-Valley MCE leads anti-illegal mining operations

In line with the President's directive in fighting illegal mining in the country, the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr. Matthew Kofi Ayeh, has stormed illegal mining sites in the area with a task force.

The task force, which was made up of security personnel in the Municipality, visited two major illegal mining sites, Abekoase and Bayeregya, where several miners were arrested and the equipment used in illegal mining was seized.

Dr Ayeh emphasized his commitment to enforcing environmental laws and ending the destruction of lands and water bodies in the area.

“We are acting in line with the vision of H.E. President Mahama to ensure that our lands and rivers are protected for future generations,” the MCE stated.

He urged residents to support the ongoing efforts by reporting illegal mining activities and cooperating with authorities to ensure lasting results.

The crackdown forms part of a broader agenda to safeguard the environment and promote responsible mining practices within the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.
