The suspect

A quiet community in Dunkwa-On-Offin, located in the Central Region’s Upper Denkyira East Municipality, has been left devastated following a brutal domestic incident that claimed the life of a pregnant woman and left her sister fighting for survival.

The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Baisie, a man in his 20s, is alleged to have fatally attacked 28-year-old Achiaa Francisca and critically injured her younger sister, Georgina Aubyn. The two sisters were reportedly caught in a violent outburst during a dispute between Baisie and Georgina, who is the mother of his four-year-old daughter.

Eyewitnesses say the incident unfolded when Francisca stepped in to calm tensions during an argument at their residence. The confrontation escalated, with Baisie allegedly accusing Georgina of infidelity. In a sudden burst of violence, he reportedly slashed Francisca’s throat with a knife, instantly inflicting fatal wounds. He then turned the weapon on Georgina, stabbing her multiple times in the abdomen.

Both women were rushed to the Dunkwa Government Hospital. Tragically, Francisca and her unborn child were pronounced dead upon arrival. Georgina remains in critical condition in the hospital's emergency ward.

Baisie is said to have fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police have launched a manhunt and are appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.

The shocking nature of the crime has sparked outrage across the community, reigniting calls for urgent measures to tackle domestic violence and protect vulnerable women. Local authorities, social workers, and community leaders have begun offering support to the grieving family and are working to ensure Georgina receives the necessary care.

As the search for the suspect continues, many residents are demanding swift justice and stronger protections for women facing abuse in the home.
