NPP has earned the title belt for corruption in this country — NDC Communicator

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Nuong Faalong, has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of presiding over unprecedented levels of corruption during their time in office.

According to her, the NPP, while in government, not only encouraged but also facilitated corrupt practices, many of which she claimed were swept under the carpet without accountability.

Speaking on Accra-based GHOne TV on Wednesday, May 28, Faalong referenced recent revelations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs involving alleged financial misconduct at Ghana’s Embassy in Washington, DC, as an example of systemic failure under the NPP administration.

“You see the issues that happened at the Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC, which was revealed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs just a few days ago—these things cannot be encouraged,” she said.

She claimed it was impossible for one individual to defraud the system over five years without the collaboration or negligence of superiors.

“There are people who are supposed to audit the system. The gentleman in question was in the IT department. He has bosses. But he was able to do this for five years. If the right people had not closed their eyes and allowed the rot, would one person be able to get away with cheating the system for that long?” she quizzes.

Faalong further vowed that under the current NDC government, individuals who engaged in corruption under the past NPP government would be brought to justice.

“The NPP has to understand that they have earned the title belt for corruption in this country. Everyone knows them, and all the people who perpetrated those acts of corruption will be brought to book. This country will retrieve the funds that have been stolen from it,” she stated.
