Anyako youth makes second donation to health centre
To support quality healthcare delivery in the community, the Anyako Youth Association has made a second-phase donation to the Anyako Health Centre.
This marks Phase II of the Association’s ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and strengthening the facility’s capacity to meet the health needs of the people of Anyako.
The donated items include: 1 Refrigerator,1 Washing Machine,1 Infrared Thermometer Gun,5 Blood Pressure Apparatus,2 Glucometers with 4 strips,1 Carton of Surgical Gloves.
These items were officially presented during the 2025 Anyako Youth Summit.
In his address, the President expressed profound gratitude to all members who have contributed thus far to the ongoing fundraising efforts. Special recognition was given to donors of various items: Mr. Samuel Nyadroh and Children, Madam Ruby Dzade, Madam Catherine Dzakpasu, Mr. Prudence Amegah, and Mr. Mawuli Dogbatse for their generous support and belief in the Association’s vision.
He noted that the donated items would address some immediate needs of the facility and improve overall service delivery. However, he emphasised that the journey is not yet complete. A self-help initiative has been launched to mobilise additional funds from members and external donors to procure a Haematology Analyser (Full Blood Count Machine), a critical piece of equipment that remains urgently needed.
The President further highlighted that while healthcare is a key priority, the Association’s focus extends to other vital sectors of development in Anyako, including education, water, sanitation, and security.
To address the declining educational standards in the town, the Association has rolled out several academic programs to motivate students and teachers alike. These initiatives include the Anyako Basic Schools Quiz Competition, the Overall Best BECE Student Award (Male & Female), the Best Performing Students Awards from Basic 1 to JHS 3 across all schools, plans to introduce a Best Teacher Award soon.
The items were formally handed over to the Anyako Health Center by Togbi Aposa VI, Fia of Anyako-Lashibi, on behalf of the Association. Togbi Aposa VI commended the association for its united front in advancing community development, emphasising that “the youth are the lifeline of every community.” He further called on all natives of Anyako, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind the youth and actively participate in the collective development of the town.
“Development is not the responsibility of a few; it is the shared duty of every son and daughter of this land. Let us rise beyond individual interests and unite our energies, skills, and resources to build the Anyako we all desire. The vision of our youth is noble and worthy of our full support. Together, we can make lasting change," he stated passionately.
Togbi Aposa VI was supported by Mr. Bone Dzakpasu, National Secretary of the National Organisation of Anyako Konu Union (NOAKU), who echoed the chief’s sentiments. He lauded the youth’s initiatives and pledged the Union’s unwavering support for the activities of the Anyako Youth Association (AYA). Mr. Dzakpasu emphasized the need for unity, urging all stakeholders to play their part in transforming the community.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Anyako Health Center, the Physician Assistant in charge, Madam Caroline Tormefa, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Anyako Youth Association and all donors for their timely and impactful support. She assured the gathering that the donated items would be put to good use to enhance service delivery at the facility.
Madam Tormefa took the opportunity to appeal for additional support, particularly for the construction of at least a 20-bed admission ward to accommodate male, female, and pediatric patients. “Due to the lack of adequate space, we are often compelled to refer patients to the Sacred Heart Hospital at Weme, which is not always convenient or timely,” she explained.
She further emphasised the critical need for a Haematology Analyser (Full Blood Count Machine) to enhance the facility’s diagnostic capacity. She also highlighted the poor state of staff accommodation, appealing for renovation of the Physician Assistant’s bungalow and the nurses’ quarters. “The current condition of these buildings is not only unsafe but also demoralizing for health professionals who dedicate themselves to serving this community,” she added.
