Tano South Assembly confirms Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong as Municipal Chief Executive

The Assembly Members of Tano South Municipality have unanimously confirmed the President’s nominee, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The confirmation vote, held as part of the official approval process, saw Hon. Frimpong receive 100% endorsement—securing all 56 votes from the assembly members present.

The ceremony, which took place in a packed assembly hall, was graced by dignitaries including the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner; Member of Parliament for Tano South, Hon. Charles Asiedu; traditional authorities (Nananom); heads of departments; security personnel; and members of the general public.

Following the vote, the newly elected Presiding Member, Hon. Isaac Kusi Amponsah, expressed gratitude for the peaceful and successful proceedings. He commended the Assembly Members for their show of unity in endorsing Hon. Frimpong and urged stakeholders to support the effective functioning of the seven Zonal Councils. He emphasized the importance of strengthening local governance structures and improving revenue mobilization.

Hon. Amponsah also called for the immediate reconstitution of the Assembly’s five Statutory Sub-Committees in light of the swearing-in of new Assembly Members. He asked members to submit their curriculum vitae for selection and addressed lingering concerns about unpaid End of Service Benefits to former members. He assured that he would work closely with management to ensure timely payments.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong thanked Almighty God, President John Dramani Mahama for the trust and nomination, and the Assembly Members for their overwhelming support.

He pledged to lead with “unity, transparency, and inclusivity,” highlighting priorities such as infrastructure development, enhanced public services, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and sanitation. Hon. Frimpong also promised an open-door leadership class, encouraging active citizen participation in local governance.

“I will work hand-in-hand with Assembly staff and stakeholders to ensure urgent and efficient delivery of projects,” he assured.

He concluded by thanking the people of Tano South for their trust and called for collective effort to drive the municipality's progress.

Hon. Charles Asiedu, Member of Parliament for Tano South, delivered brief closing remarks, commending the unity demonstrated during the confirmation process. He urged residents to set aside political differences and support the MCE and Assembly Members to achieve shared development goals.

He also encouraged close collaboration between the MCE, Assembly Members, and traditional leaders (Nananom), emphasizing the vital role of unity in achieving a prosperous Tano South.
