Missing ECG cables recovered in Gomoa Awombrew – Kwame A Plus reveals

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng, widely known as Kwame A Plus, has announced a major development in the search for missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) cables, thanks to the sharp-eyed residents of Gomoa Awombrew in his constituency.

According to him, suspicion arose when a truck carrying electrical cables broke down in the town a few days ago. Locals, wary of the ongoing cable theft issue, quickly took action.

“The residents promptly reported the matter to the Swedru Divisional Police Command, which dispatched officers alongside ECG officials to inspect the cargo,” Kwame A Plus wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, April 2.

Upon investigation, the truck driver struggled to provide a convincing explanation regarding the origin and destination of the cables, and the accompanying waybill raised further suspicion. A closer inspection by ECG officials strongly indicated that the cables matched the missing stock.

Following this discovery, the driver, his assistant, and all others linked to the truck were arrested and placed in police custody while investigations continue. Law enforcement has also brought in National Security personnel to aid in the probe.

Kwame A Plus commended the residents for their alertness and decisive action, which played a crucial role in uncovering the stolen ECG cables.
