President Mahama nominates new District Chief Executives for eight regions
President John Dramani Mahama has nominated a fresh set of District Chief Executives (DCEs) for eight out of Ghana’s sixteen regions, as part of his administration’s efforts to enhance local governance and accelerate development.
The appointments, made under the authority of Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), reflect the government's commitment to strengthening grassroots administration and ensuring efficient service delivery at the district level.
In a statement signed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, the nominees were directed to seek approval from their respective District Assemblies before officially assuming office.
The new appointments aim to fill vacant DCE positions, streamline local governance operations, and drive key developmental projects in the selected districts. This move aligns with President Mahama’s broader agenda of fostering inclusive governance and ensuring that every district plays a crucial role in national development.
