Kwahu East District NCCE hosts 68th Independence Day Anniversary Quiz

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region celebrated Ghana's 68th Independence Day by organizing a quiz competition among four junior high schools in the district.

This event took place on March 5, 2025, at the Kwahu East District Assembly Hall and aligned with the NCCE's 2025 theme: “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility.”

The Constitution Quiz was part of a larger initiative by the NCCE to mark Independence Day, designed to enhance students' understanding of the 1992 Constitution in an engaging manner. Additionally, the quiz aimed to motivate students to join and actively participate in Civic Education Clubs (CEC) at their schools.

The competition included two main elements: the NCCE Constitution Game Board, which facilitated the quiz and assessed students' comprehension of the 1992 Constitution, and Current Affairs Questions related to the Kwahu Traditional Area and Ghana’s Independence, aimed at enriching students' knowledge of both local and national history.

In a statement, Ms. Roberta E. Koah, the District Director of Abetifi NCCE, emphasized that the Constitution Quiz was designed to enhance civic awareness and deepen students' understanding of the Constitution.

She also urged students to engage in Civic Education Club activities at their schools and to remain involved in civic education beyond the quiz.

After the event, medals and a plaque were awarded to the winners to further inspire their interest in studying the Constitution.

Ms. Ophelia Ankrah, the NCCE Eastern Regional Director, presented the awards, praising the students for their enthusiasm and commendable performance.

The students showcased their extensive knowledge during the competition, responding to questions that brought pride to their schools as their supporters rallied behind them in celebration of their success.

Ultimately, Abetifi Ridge JHS secured the top position, with Abetifi D/A JHS coming in second, while Abetifi Anglican JHS and Abetifi R/C JHS finished in third and fourth places, respectively.

Participants in the competition expressed their gratitude towards the NCCE office for its efforts in assisting students to revisit constitutional and social issues.
