I’ll respect seniority within the hierarchy of the service — IGP Yohuno
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has pledged to uphold discipline and respect for seniority within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking during his swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, March 14, he emphasized the importance of hierarchy in maintaining order and professionalism within the service.
“In alignment with the transformation and modernization of the service, I pledge to uphold the values, traditions, and culture of the Ghana Police Service. The guiding principles will include discipline and respect for seniority within the hierarchy of the service,” he stated.
The new police chief assured Ghanaians of his commitment to building a trusted and professional police institution.
“To the courageous policemen and policewomen who believe in my ability to lead, I commit to remaining diligent and transparent as we collectively build the Ghana Police Service we all aspire to,” he said.
He further pledged to foster an environment where justice, peace, and stability flourish, ensuring the safety and well-being of all Ghanaians.
“Professionalism, transparency, accountability, and fairness shall underpin my administration,” he added.
COP Yohuno’s appointment comes after Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, whose tenure saw complaints about the disregard for seniority in promotions, was relieved of his position.
