Open Letter To His Excellence John Dramani Mahama, President Of The Republic Of Ghana
Dear Mr. President,
I am writing to you today as a citizen of Tegbi in the Anloga Municipality of the Volta Region to respectfully urge you to utilize the funds released by the World Bank for the West Africa Coastal Areas (WACA) Resilience Investment Project.
As you may be aware, the WACA project aims to enhance the resilience of coastal communities in West Africa, including Ghana, Togo and Benin by addressing the impacts of climate change, erosion, and flooding. This project is crucial for the well-being and livelihoods of our coastal communities, who are vulnerable to the devastating effects of climate change.
Recently, the tidal wave that devastated Agavedzi and Salakorfe all in Ketu South Municipality in the Volta Region has left many families displaced and without livelihoods. This disaster has highlighted the urgent need for investments in coastal resilience and adaptation measures. The WACA project presents a critical opportunity for our country to address these challenges and ensure the long-term sustainability of our coastal ecosystems.
The World Bank's funding for this project presents a significant opportunity for our country to invest in the resilience and sustainability of our coastal ecosystems. I strongly believe that it is imperative that we utilize these funds efficiently and effectively to achieve the project's objectives.
Mr. President, I urge you to ensure that the funds are allocated and utilized transparently, with clear accountability mechanisms in place. It is essential that the project's implementation is done in a participatory and inclusive manner, involving local communities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
I would like to request that you provide regular updates on the project's progress, including the allocation and utilization of funds, to ensure transparency and accountability.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, Mr. President. I look forward to seeing the positive impact of the WACA project on our coastal communities.
Sincerely,
Emmanuel Gameli Dovia
