Airport Company financing Hajj Village at no cost to taxpayer- Kwakye Ofosu
Amid growing discussions surrounding the construction of a Hajj Village, Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has addressed concerns and provided clarification on the project’s funding.
He emphasized that the initiative is being financed solely by the Ghana Airport Company through internally generated funds, with no burden on taxpayers.
In a statement shared on social media, he stated: “FACT: The Hajj Village is primarily an Airport Terminal Building for check-in and pilgrim facilitation owned and being built by the Ghana Airport Company. Not a pesewa of taxpayers’ money involved.”
However, before the official sod-cutting ceremony by the President, the former Hajj Board Chairman cautioned the government against taking full credit for the project.
He pointed out that construction had already begun under the previous administration, albeit without a grand ceremony to mark its commencement.
