Power Is Temporary And Fleeting; The Revocation Of The Appointments Of The Ghanaian Youth By President Mahama
On the insensitive decision taken by Mr President. Some of the NDC footsoldiers opined that the affected youth should go to court.
Yes, some of them will take legal action for redress, but what happened to promised to engage the youth who were unemployed? Was it to play with the minds of the youth?
Again, what happened to the NDC's 24-hour economy policy that they trumpeted to employ more Ghanaian youth? We are still waiting.
However, this ill-thought move gives a clear indication to effect that the so-called 24-hour economy can't be the game changer to tackle the unemployment menace in the Country.
Fast forward, to the new administration led by President Mahama, if they had hopes for the 24-hour economy, they wouldn't even bother to sack the youth who were engaged genuinely.
To NDC footsoldiers, don't be in a jubilant mood because of this decision to revoke the appointments of your colleagues in the various sectors of the economy. Power is transient and is guided.
In fact, monitoring the various social media handles and the commentary that goes with the series of letters being churned out by the departments of the various public institutions.
I can't hold it but to come up with part two of my take on the wicked decision taken on behalf of the President by the Chief of Staff at the Presidency. Was it what Mr Mahama promised?
As the saying goes, every electoral decision taken by the citizens has consequences, and that's why the majority of the youth are being subjected to pain, anxiety, and psychological trauma.
Be that as it may, some of the NDC footsoldiers argue that the outgone administration did a similar thing when they came to power in 2017. But should it be the basis for such a callous move by the NDC to revoke the appointments of these innocent youths?
Furthermore, reliable information in the public domain suggests such a move was not taken like what's transpiring now by the new administration led by President Mahama and his ministers.
To say it as it is, some of the youth were being hoodwinked to fall for the sweet but bitter pill campaign messages of the NDC and they have been given a bitter pill after they have entrusted power to their hands.
I thought this glaring insensitivity would have stopped after many had expressed their unhappiness with such a dehumanizing move to send the innocent ones back home to dine and wine with their families.
To put it in proper perspective, some of the appointment letters revoked were being issued before the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections but they're being included lately.
Why must we be too partisan with our political affairs in the Country to the extent of doing everything to please perceived Party members to neglect the masses who queued and cast their votes?
Mr. President, power is transient, and it's incumbent on you to rethink your decision before it's too late. The power belongs to the people and they will show you and the NDC where it lies in the future.
In a nutshell, this bad precedent is needless and uncalled for, especially the emotional and psychological trauma these affected people would be going through with the information in the public space for the past few days.
In summary, government is a continuum, and why can't Mr. Mahama, who swore to protect the dignity and integrity of all persons, act accordingly? It beats my imagination for that wicked, insensitive and sheered neglect.
Shalom!
