Africans Abroad, Don’t Give Up On Africa

Dear African Brothers and Sisters Abroad,

This is a heartfelt call to you, a reminder of where you come from and the immense potential that lies within the continent of Africa. Do not give up on Africa, the land of abundant resources, diverse cultures, and unparalleled opportunities. While I understand that many of you have traveled to the West in search of better opportunities, education, or a different life, I urge you not to lose sight of your roots. Do not stay away too long, and do not make the West your forever home. God placed you on this continent for a reason, and that reason is still waiting to be fulfilled.

I am not against your travels or your pursuit of a better life abroad. What I am asking is for you not to give up on Africa. The world is beginning to recognize the value of this great continent. The Chinese are coming, the Arabs are coming, the Indians are coming, the Turks are coming, and the Americans and their Western allies have been here for centuries, with their presence only growing stronger. Even our African-American brothers and sisters, whom we welcome with open arms, are returning to the continent in increasing numbers. They are coming to reconnect with their roots, to invest, and to be part of Africa’s growth. If others can see the value in Africa, why should you, its own children, turn your backs on it?

Look at the great cities and nations of the world

Dubai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo, California, Delhi, São Paulo, Dhaka, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, and many others. These places were once forests, deserts, or small settlements. But through the determination, vision, and hard work of their leaders and citizens, they transformed into the global powerhouses and cultural hubs we admire today. Africa has the same potential, if not more. Our cities, Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, Johannesburg, Cairo, and many others are growing rapidly in population and infrastructure. The transformation is happening, but it needs you to be part of it.

Do not give up on Africa. If you stay away too long, if you make the West your permanent home, you risk losing the opportunity to shape the future of this continent. Your absence will not only affect you but also your children and generations to come. Land is the most valuable asset you can own, and in Africa, land is still abundant and accessible. Buy land, invest in property, and secure a future for your family. If you give up on Africa, if you refuse to return, you may one day regret it when your lands, towns, cities, and villages are taken over by foreigners who see the value you overlooked.

The failures of our leaders may have driven you away, but remember this: your children will not blame those leaders tomorrow. They will blame you for not seizing the opportunity to build a better future for them on this continent. The challenges we face; corruption, poor governance, inadequate infrastructure are real, but they are not insurmountable. Change begins with us. If we, the sons and daughters of Africa, do not take responsibility for our continent, who will?

Take advantage of the opportunities that are emerging in Africa today. The continent is young, vibrant, and full of potential. The middle class is growing, technology is advancing, and entrepreneurship is thriving. From agriculture to tech, from renewable energy to creative industries, there are countless ways to contribute and succeed. Do not let the temporary comforts of the West blind you to the long-term opportunities that Africa offers.

Do not become a victim of regret. Do not let the narrative of Africa’s struggles overshadow its potential. The world is changing, and Africa is rising. Be part of that rise. Come back home, invest in your communities, and contribute to the development of this great continent. Your skills, experiences, and resources are needed here more than ever.

Africa is calling you. Do not turn your back on it. Do not give up on Africa. The future is bright, but it requires your presence, your passion, and your commitment. Together, we can build an Africa that we and our children will be proud of. Do not let this moment pass you by.
