Vice President Prof. Jane Naana calls for collaborative infrastructure development at Africa Prosperity Dialogues

The Vice President of Ghana, H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has urged African countries to unite and prioritize infrastructure development as a means to foster economic growth and prosperity across the continent.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre, she emphasized the critical role of infrastructure in achieving a single market and economic integration.

"We must prioritize infrastructural development, without which our hopes for a single market and economic integration will remain a challenge," Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang stated.

She pointed to Ghana's investments in energy infrastructure aimed at providing reliable and affordable power to industries and households as a prime example of how infrastructure can unlock economic potential.

"Our commitment to energy infrastructure is a testament to our belief that access to reliable power is essential for industrial growth and economic stability."

The Vice President highlighted the importance of modernizing digital infrastructure, expanding transportation networks, and enhancing energy capabilities.

"We must invest collectively in building robust digital infrastructure to drive innovation and entrepreneurship," she urged.

H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang commended the Africa Prosperity Network and the AfCFTA Secretariat for creating a platform that fosters collaboration among leaders from across the continent.

"This gathering is a vital step towards ensuring that our shared vision for Africa's prosperity becomes a reality," she noted, calling for accelerated efforts to ensure Africa's progress benefits current and future generations.

Additionally, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the Africa Prosperity Network Advisory Council, underscored the necessity of empowering African women to realize the continent's full potential. "Women are not just contributors to economic growth; they are the foundation of sustainable development," she asserted.

Dr. Dlamini Zuma called for breaking down barriers that hinder women's full participation in various sectors, emphasizing equal access to capital, markets, and decision-making spaces. "By dismantling these obstacles, we can unlock the tremendous potential of women and youth across Africa," she added.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogue serves as a platform for leaders to discuss strategies for economic integration and prosperity. This year's theme, "Delivering Africa's Single Markets Through Infrastructure," resonates with the vision of Africa's founding fathers and mothers and reflects Ghana's commitment to the continent's unity.

The event has attracted over 3,000 delegates from 46 countries, including seven African heads of state, focusing on strategies to enhance women's access to finance, markets, and technology, as well as initiatives supporting their participation in politics and business.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues pledges to promote initiatives that empower women economically, reinforcing the vital role they play in driving the continent's transformation and prosperity.
