How does asking Ministerial nominee to sing Methodist hymn solve problems of Ghanaians? — Kwesi Pratt slams Vetting Committee
Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has criticized Parliament's Appointments Committee for the line of questioning during the vetting of President John Dramani Mahama's ministerial nominees.
Speaking on the vetting on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning show, the seasoned journalist was not enthused by the conduct of some Committee members, accusing them of joking with the entire process.
Mr. Pratt touched on the questions that some of the Committee members pose to the appointees which, in his view, are nothing but purely comedy.
He referenced an instance where a Minister-designate was asked to sing Methodist hymns, questioning how relevant this is to the governance of Ghana.
"If a person comes before you and you tell him to sing a Methodist hymn and he sings it, how does it address issues bordering on the welfare of Ghanaians?" he asked.
He advised the Committee to focus and ask questions bordering on national issues, not matters he considers "petty.”
"The vetting is not about tweeting. It is not about Methodist hymns," he said.
