NPP withdraws from TV3, Onua TV, all other Media General stations over 'bias'
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana’s biggest opposition party, has announced its decision to boycott all Media General stations.
These stations include TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, and Onua TV. According to the party, these platforms have exhibited consistent bias against them.
A statement dated January 27, 2025, and signed by the NPP’s National Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, accused Media General of failing to ensure balanced panel discussions, which often work against the party.
“This notice is to announce the withdrawal of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from all Media General platforms.
“This decision comes after months of engagement with the production team, hosts, and management of Media General to address concerns regarding unprintable attacks on leading figures of our party, biased paneling of guests, and disruptive hosting of political shows designed primarily to drown and create doubt about the submissions of our representatives,” the statement read.
The party further cited an instance where a regular guest allegedly insulted former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during a show, while the host failed to intervene.
The NPP assured Ghanaians that their commitment to holding what they described as the “already failing John Mahama Administration” accountable would remain steadfast despite their decision to boycott Media General’s platforms.
