Catholic Priest calls on Ghanaian youth to persevere for improved livelihoods

Reverend Father Albert Kyei Danso, the Chaplain of the Holy Family Ghanaian Catholic Community Church in Pordenone, Italy, has advised Ghanaian youth to channel their energies into hard work hard and profitable ventures.

He advised them not to make their lives "like a seaman who drives a ship without a compass, but set real goals, reasonable, useful and make their goals time-bound and achievable", he gave the advice in an interview with the media in Sunyani.

According to Rev. Fr. Danso, the Ghanaian youth must have plan for the year 2025, know where they are going and how to get there by being diligent and having a clearly defined vision to determine their choices of life as the new year begins.

He said the year 2025 may come with many goodies, blessings and worth, but without vision, proper plan, determination and perseverance, one would still be lacking behind.

Rev. Fr. Danso urged all to spend judiciously, saying, "let's not spend unnecessarily and exorbitantly to reduces our financial deposits, distract and destroy us".

He noted that expenses on weekly drink-ups and outings alone in the past year could have been a business capital, adding that a lot of the money is spent on credit and airtime for social media view, electronics, dresses and others can be reduced and set aside for other meaningful ventures such as acquiring a half-plot of land to begin a better future if one had cut down his or her expenses.

Risk taking
"Let's be adventurous and ready to take risk in life, the Man of God emphasized, adding that vision, hard work, passion and focusing on what we do were amongst the core fundamental principles and pillars of success".

Having gotten the clear vision, one should not hesitate to start something new because you make no progress when you do not move, he said.

The man of God wished Ghana a gracious, glorious, peaceful and prosperous 2025 and asked the youth to never be content with their current situation and environment but move like Abraham from a known to an unknown land, from their comfort zone with righteousness and moral life and success awaits them.

Networking
Rev. Fr. Danso highlighted the need to network with professionals from all walks of life, saying sometimes a word of encouragement and a simple introduction to a person of influence changes someone's life for good.

He also entreated people to exercise caution in choosing friends, stressing that human relationships and network you keep and the kind of social or entertainment programmes you select, watch and attend including religious group and Associations you join determines your direction in life.

Therefore, "choose your friends and associates wisely, tactfully, prudently and strategically, he stressed, adding that one should not put all the trust in a friend, because there was no perfect friendship on the planet earth".

The priest said friendship influenced or contributes to the growth of the person's socioeconomic life in their thoughts, perspective, mindset and vice versa.

"That's why a proverb says, show me your friend, and I will show you your character". The kind of friends one chose determined the direction in life, therefore prudent that one be extremely wise, vigilant and moderate in your friendship.
