Concern Nurses & Midwives Letter To Dr. Okoe Boye
Dear Dr. Okoe Boye,
I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing matter affecting numerous nurses in Ghana. Hundreds to thousands of nurses have applied for schools and jobs abroad and have been requested to obtain confirmation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
To comply, they applied and were asked to secure international clearance, incurring a cost of GHS550 via the ministry’s portal or Gov.gh, in addition to the GHS570 paid at the NMC.
Furthermore, some of these nurses have paid CAD170 to the World Education Services (WES) for document evaluation and had 180 days to upload the necessary documents.
However, due to the ministry’s delay in signing the clearance, the 180-day timeframe has elapsed for some nurses.
Some applicants have been waiting for six months without any update on their forms.
In your remaining days in office, can you instruct the relevant person or people to expedite the signing of these forms?
These nurses are in dire need of assistance, and I kindly request your intervention.
