Open Letter to President-elect Mr Mahama to appoint Lady Rosa Whitaker as Minister of Trade

Dear President-elect Mr Mahama,

Greetings from Kumasi.

Sir, Ghana is at Cross Road for a very thoughtful and very humble Leader as a President and Commander- in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. Likewise very competent, very resourceful, influential and forward looking persons as Delegates of the President for them to help him to navigate the Country successfully towards the Promise Land.

So, Romans 13:1 proclaimed that it is God who appoints a Leader, hence for a purpose. So, the unprecedented historic victories by you and your Political Party in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the Fourth Republic with the attainment of a very wide margin by you and over two-third Members of Parliament respectively is for a very great purpose of God. It is envisaged that the purpose is to navigate Ghana towards the Promise Land.

So, both victories at the Presidential and Parliamentary elections are notifications of great messages from God to you the nominated President and the Hon MPs with the support of the citizenry to collectively effect a great change in the narrative on the Economy, Social and Political landscapes so as to make it very possible for the navigation of the Country towards the Promise Land.

Sir, the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA), as you are fully aware of as the First American’s grand trade law in 2000 towards Africa which since its inception, has delivered and is still delivering Billions of Dollars in duty free goods from Africa into the US Market annually thus generating massive jobs, foreign exchange in US Dollars/investment across the continent including Ghana as one of the eligible sub-Saharan African Countries. Hence, AGOA is a very crucial machinery to help drive the three sectors of the Economy namely the Agriculture Sector, the Industrial Sector and the Services Sector, thus AGOA is a very essential vehicle for your 24-hour economy.

Sir, AGOA is reportedly at Cross roads, it is going to expire on 30 September 2025. It is confronted with uncertain future because your counterpart in USA, President-elect Mr Donald Trump has given a signal that in his Administration, global trade will undergo a period of radical transformation, indicative that AGOA is facing uncertain scenarios including the possibility of not renewing it or renewing it with either expansion or reduction of the eligible Countries and there is also the possibility of using it as a diplomatic coercive tool.

Mr President-elect, there is the urgent need for geopolitical developments in African Countries especially the eligible Countries like Ghana with a forward looking incoming Administration which has an ideology of resetting/improving on the Nation’s 24-hour economy, in order to find a way to influence the incoming administration of President-elect Mr Donald Trump to renew and expand AGOA without making it as a diplomatic coercive tool.

Sir, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 decreed that “For everything there is a Season, and Time for every matter under Heaven…. “So, Sir it is Time for Ghana, the Country which championed the Unity of Africa/ Pan Africanism to appoint the first African American especially a very influential African American as a Minister of Trade. This person should be a trailblazer in trade policies and would a very good connection with the incoming administration of Mr Donald Trump, the President-elect of USA. Thus, the nominee for the Trade Ministry should be in a better position to influence the incoming Administration of President-elect Mr Donald Trump on matters on trade and thus help to drive Ghana towards the Promise Land.

A very good global influential person, a very good trade policy maker, a global thinker, a global trade negotiator and a global lobbyist par excellence is Lady Rosa Whitaker. Rosa, is a very much respected African American who is married to Archbishop (Papa) Duncan Williams, hence, she is a Citizen of Ghana by Naturalization.

Mrs Rosa Whitaker Duncan-Williams, now the President and CEO of the Whitaker Group, whilst as the First Assistant USA’s Trade Rep for Africa in the Administrations of both President Bill Clinton and President George Bush Jnr was one of the luminary Architects of the historic African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which was enacted in 2000.

Lady Rosa is a global thinker and global Philanthropy. She was one time as the President of the Mercy International Ship, which provides medical care to the poorest of the poor in Africa including Ghana. The Mercy International Ship, which is the world largest private hospital ship is a global faith based charity NGO. It has made more than two trips to Ghana since 1991, with the last visit to Ghana in January 2024 and provides medical services especially serious surgical treatments, surgical training etc.

Sir besides the influential stature of Lady Rosa, the darling husband of Lady Rosa Whitaker who is Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams of Action Chapel International Fame, was the first non-American Pastor to lead the prayers for the investiture of an American President in the person of President-elect Mr Donald Trump during the 20 January 2017 inauguration.

Sir Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams is reported as one of the Spiritual advisors to Donald Trump through her spiritual daughter namely Pastor Paula White, who is an American Televangelist and Apostolic leader. Pastor Paula White is alleged to be the one who made Mr Donald Trump to become a true Christian. So, Pastor Paula White became the Chairperson of the Evangelical Advisory Board to Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Sir, it is for the above reasons that I hereby recommend Mrs Rosa Whitaker Duncan-Williams, who is a very good global influential person, a very good trade policy maker, a global thinker, a global trade negotiator and a global lobbyist par excellence and a very much respected African American to be appointed as the Minister of Trade and Industries otherwise Ghana’s Ambassador to the USA.
