PTAAM-Africa demands transparency, lists 118 alleged corruption cases under Akufo-Addo/Bawumia
The Positive Transparency and Accountability Movement Africa (PTAAM-Africa) has reacted to a list of 118 alleged cases of corruption and mismanagement under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
The group is demanding heightened transparency and accountability, asserting that these instances have significantly undermined public trust.
Among the alleged cases, PTAAM-Africa cited the controversial Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal, where millions of dollars were reportedly lost, and the payment of GHC1 million to Kroll Associates for no work done, as flagged by the Auditor-General.
It referenced the $17,000-per-hour private jet hire for the President’s travels and over GHC9.6 billion lost to corruption since 2017.
In a statement, the movement described these incidents as emblematic of “a culture of cronyism and impunity.”
They further criticized the lack of prosecution for some officials implicated in these scandals, including alleged breaches in procurement and financial irregularities in state institutions.
PTAAM-Africa emphasized the need for an independent inquiry into these allegations to rebuild confidence in governance systems and ensure justice for the Ghanaian people.
