Re-collation Saga: Supreme Court to hear NDC’s application December 27
The Supreme Court of Ghana is set to hear the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) application on December 27, challenging the High Court's decision to order the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate parliamentary results in six constituencies on Friday.
The six constituencies in question are Tema Central, Nsawam-Adoagyir, Ablekuma North, Ahafo Ano North, Techiman South, and Okaikwei Central. The High Court's order was made in response to mandamus applications filed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates for these (6) constituencies.
The NDC contends that the High Court breached natural justice by failing to give their parliamentary candidates a hearing before granting the mandamus orders. They also argue that the High Court committed a non-jurisdictional error of law by not directing the NPP candidates to serve the mandamus applications on the NDC candidates.
This development comes after the EC re-collated results in seven out of nine constituencies, with the NPP winning all seven seats. The two remaining constituencies, Dome-Kwabenya and Ablekuma North, are yet to be re-collated.
