The Philanthropic Journey Of Dr. Bala Wunti - Part 1

Dr. Bala Maijama'a Wunti, the philanthropist, God fearing man, father to orphans and widows, educationist, public Servant, champion of the masses and a detribalize Nigerian is the founder of Wunti Al-Khair Foundation.

Dr. Wunti's humble beginning no doubt nurtured him and fashioned his life into serving the needy, underprivileged and care for people. At a tender age of three, he lost his father Hussaini Muhammed who promised to take up responsibility on him and take him to a greater height that could have given him a better chance and an edge over his peers. Malam Hussaini Muhammed died in his middle age.

His father’s death was a huge blow to his family especially his mother, Nana Aishetu, who the task of raising Bala and his siblings fell on her shoulders. His mother, Aishetu, died two years later. After that Bala was raised as an orphan by his uncle Maijama'a, as well as his father’s extended family members in Wunti.

However, the resultant effect of his background of losing both his father and mother at a tender age of five did not deprived him to move higher with determination mind, hence, his step to greatness was divine leading from Allah. Despite all these he did not relent in his effort to ensure that he becomes one of the greatest philanthropist in his generation.

Born without the proverbial silver spoon and lossing both his parents at the tender age, of course, the prospect of not going to school or completing his education was a constant challenge to the rather humongous dreams and aspirations of the young boy. Yet, he remained undaunted and instead pulled himself by the boot straps to emerge one of the wealthiest Bauchi state indigens' in contemporary history. Except that his wealth is dipped in unimaginable instinct for giving.

Dr. Bala Maijama'a Wunti’s philanthropic journey began long before Wunti Al-Khair foundation was established. Perhaps, it was his past that conditioned his present and ultimately propelled him to set his eyes on the future and eventually to the plight of the down trodden and underprivileged.

The journey, which irrevocably set him apart and on the path of philanthropy, started once he got employed as NNPC Operations Staff Training, PTI Warri, Delta State. He began to seek out children and students who reflected his past. He went deeper into the crevice to seek children and students with worse trajectory – orphaned and indigent, and gave them hope. But, more importantly, he offered free and qualitative education to the children. He also fed homeless and indigent children, as well as other less privileged persons. Bothered by the fact that those fed weekly returned to their lives of uncertainty and penury, Dr. Bala Wunti came up with a strategy that could permanently take them out of extreme poverty and want. The outcome was the birth of Wunti Al-Khair Foundation.

His philanthropic efforts have focused on education, health, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation. Through the foundation, he has implemented projects aimed at promoting literacy, skills development, and entrepreneurship among underprivileged individuals, equipping them for sustainable livelihoods.

Dr. Bala Wunti is widely recognized for his extensive philanthropic endeavours, which have had a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals in Bauchi state, Nigeria and beyond. Through his leadership of Wunti Al-khair Foundation, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at addressing the practical needs of the less privileged and marginalized members of society.
