Mahama’s Anti-Corruption Pledge Is Not Worth One Pesewa
The Serial and the Dynastic Presidential Candidate of the country’s main opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John “I Have No Classmates in Ghana” Dramani Mahama, appears to have, finally, come to a sobering realization of the fact that his 2024 Presidential-Electioneering Campaign has tanked or effectively run out of gas or fuel, thus his rather pathetic claim that his so-called Anti-Corruption Pledge is giving his main contender in the race to Jubilee House a “Nightmare” (See “I'm NPP's “nightmare” due to my anti-corruption pledge — Mahama” Modernghana.com 11/24/24).
His claim is both bogus and pathetic because what the twice-rejected, one-term former President meant a la his patent Freudian Slip is that he has absolutely no credible anti-corruption performance track record to showcase or demonstrate to the overwhelming majority of Ghanaian citizens and voters, which is why he has been completely and effectively reduced to making the sort of empty pledges that he has already proven himself to be woefully incapable of fulfilling.
You see, he would have been better off to have humbly and profoundly offered the traditionally well-educated and politically enlightened citizens of Somanya, in the lame-duck President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s home-province and electoral stronghold of the Eastern Region, his unqualified and unreserved apology for having so flagrantly and scandalously failed these “Somanyans” and the Ghanaian citizenry at large. Instead, the infamous “Shit-Bombing” former Rawlings-appointed Communications Minister decided to insult the intelligence of the kinsfolk of the distinguished and the legendary Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, The Right-Reverend Edward Martinus Lartey Odjidja (1900-1987), by making precisely the same “Woyomesque” Pledge that he had made to the Ghanaian electorate in the runup to the 2012 Presidential Election, a Pledge that he fully knew well in advance was a whole cloth of irredeemable mendacity.
For those of our readers who may have so soon forgotten the same or were much too young at the time to remember, in the runup to the 2012 General Election, in particular that year’s fiercely contested Presidential Election, the Bole-Bamboi native, from the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, categorically informed Ghanaians that he was airtight and steely determined to retrieve each and every single cedi and pesewa stolen by Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome, the putatively foremost underwriter of the National Democratic Congress, under fraudulent pretenses, from the Treasury Vaults of our nation’s Central Bank, namely, the Bank of Ghana, taxpayers’ money totalling GH¢51.2 million - Somebody, quickly and kindly do the math for me in today’s cedi value - and that there was absolutely “no way” and “nohow” that an Interim-President and Candidate Mahama would allow “Efo Juju the Mega-Scam-Artist” to get away with this “Capital Crime,” pun intended, by the way, Dear Reader.
You see, the problem here is not just the fact of the former Arch-Lieutenant to the widely suspected “Palace Assassinated” President John Evans Atta-Mills having made what would shortly turn out to be an empty and bogus promise. Rather, it had to do with the fact that, as Mr. Martin ABK Amidu, Ghana’s longest-serving Deputy Attorney-General and Deputy Minister of Justice, recently told it, the then Vice-President John “European Airbus SE Payola” Dramani Mahama had known from “The Get-Go,” as New Yorkers are wont to say, that, in fact, the Woyome Mega-Heist had actually been criminally engineered by the “Guileless-Looking” President Atta-Mills, “Professor Innocent Doolittle” - aka “The King of Peace” - and his own very first appointed Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, to wit, Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu (See Martin Amidu’s 2024 Harmattan School Lecture Presentation Series on the Tamale Campus of the University for Development Studies).
Which also logically by association means that an extant Vice-President John “Ouagadougou Ford Expedition Payola” Dramani Mahama “had been in on it” or “in the know” about the Woyome Mega-Heist right from the beginning, and may very well have hugely benefited from this loot, thus his relentless harassment and persecution of the Atta-mills-expelled Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. You see, Ghanaians are not as slow-witted or plain dumb as Kwame Gonja would have his audiences believe on the electioneering-campaign stumps.
You see, if, indeed, New Patriotic Party leaders frequently reference him in their speeches, it is obviously and logically because Candidate Mahama has virtually made a far more politically progressive and administratively astute and visionary Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia his diarrheal target of gratuitous insults laced with lies and, for that matter, Ghanaian citizens and voters need to be studiously reminded around the clock, as it were, of the fact that Candidate Mahama is, once again, at what he knows better than all his political opponents. Which, of course, is to shamelessly and unconscionably attempt to lie his way back to Jubilee House, so that he could, once more, turn off the lights and blindly take them to the cleaners or in the memorable words of Retired Associate Supreme Court Justice Jones M Dotse, so that the Mahama and the Johnson “The Mosquito” Asiedu-Nketia Posse could “Create, Loot and Share” the communal wealth and the resources of the Ghanaian citizenry among themselves.
Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” (Ouagadougou-Nkonfem Flying) Dramani Mahama may have so soon forgotten what the widely presumed Next President of our Beloved Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana told him not very long ago; which was that the Witch-Camp Building former Member of Parliament for the West-Gonja Constituency, in the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, would surefire as Hell be deceiving himself, if Kwame Gonja presumes for even a nanosecond that he could “Kaakaamotobi-ize” his way back to Jubilee House. In short, true leadership is proven by one’s demonstrably established governance performance track record, and not mere “Kwaku Ananse Pledges.”
