Full Judgement: Supreme Court explains reasoning for quashing Speaker Bagbin's declaration of four vacant seats
The Supreme Court of Ghana has explained its reasoning behind the ruling that Speaker Alban Bagbin's decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant was unconstitutional.
In a 5-2 majority ruling on Tuesday, November 12, the Court upheld the suit filed by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. The judgment clarified the constitutional conditions under which Members of Parliament (MPs) may lose their seats due to changes in political affiliation.
