Prof Abdul-Manan Dauda appointed Pro V-C of Tamale Technical University
The Governing Council of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) has appointment Professor Abdul-Manan Dauda as the Pro Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University.
The appointment of Professor Dauda which takes effect from October 16, 2024 for a period of three years followed the acceptance of the Report of the Search Committee for the appointment of Pro Vice-Chancellor, which was submitted to the 12th Governing Council meeting held on 11th October, 2024.
He took over from the current VC Prof Bashiru Imoro Saaed whose term of office expired in June 2024.
Until his appointment, Professor Abdul-Manan was Dean of the Faculty of Built and Natural Environment of the University. He has an unmatched working knowledge of academia.
Prof. who has worked with the University since 2001 with much knowledge acquired and impacted to the University students and community served as acting VC of the University from from 2018-2020, Vice-Rector of the erstwhile Tamale Polytechnic from 2016 to 2018 and Dean of Students from 2012 to 2016. His service to the University Community is commendable.
He has mentored numerous institutions and individuals in sustainable design and construction project management.
The Governing Council, Management, members of staff and the entire student body conveyed their congratulations to Professor Abdul-Manan on this great appointment.
We wish you more productive service at the University and assured of our support to assist the VC to embark on developmental agenda to enhance quality education in the University, they said.
The Alumni commended the University Council for the trust imposed in Prof Abdul-Manan to be the Pro- VC and extended its congratulatory to Prof Abdul-Manan.
Prof Abdul-Manan also expressed gratitude to the University Council, management and staff for their support and assured to working with them to achieve the set goals of the University.
According to him, the University is in dire need of development and therefore would liaise with the VC, and the University community to nurture future children of the country.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Building Technology with an Architecture and Construction Project Management Consultant background.
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Architectural Science from the Tianjin University, China, Postgraduate degree and a BSc in Architecture from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He obtained both the Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates from the Tamale Secondary School.
His professional and academic interests include Sustainable design and construction, Environmental Planning and design, and Construction consultancy projects. He was awarded a Staff Development scholarship to study for a PhD in China in 2012.
He has authored several academic papers in many peer reviewed journals and is a reviewer for some world class journals. Many national and international conference presentations also stand in his name.
He has supervised over 150 student theses and dissertations and co-authored many peer-reviewed journals articles, conference papers, book chapters and workshop publications.
A practicing Architect and member of two professional bodies his experience, spans over two decades in academia and industry including projects in residential, religious, commercial, corporate, and sport planning, design, and construction.
