GCPP mourns death of Akua Donkor

Oh what a world, Akua Donkor is Gone! We in the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) woke up to the shocking news of the demise of Madam Akua Donkor, the Founder and Flagbearer of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).

Madam Akua Donkor has become renowned for her spirited presence in Ghanaian politics at the local level as an Assembly Member and being able to establish a political party and sustain the party since 2012 till her untimely death.

Her bold, outspoken demeanour, and her unique sense of humour endeared her to many Ghanaians as she significantly impacted the grassroots communities she aimed to represent. Throughout her political journey, she demonstrated tenacity and remarkable resilience despite several setbacks and challenges.

Her mantra “3ny333 no no”, became a greeting whenever we came across her beaming with smiles. She advocated strongly for the use of Ghanaian language in our public and official discourse which was admired by those of us who believe in “Domestication”.

She exhibited a “Yaa Asantewa” spirit and encouraged several women to take their place in the political landscape and public life and not to relent or be deterred by setting an example.

The close ties of friendship existing between her and our General Secretary and our parties as she was also an ardent believer in our domestication policies especially agriculture being the bedrock of economic emancipation of Ghana make us feel the loss more deeply.

Her resilience in the face of adversity, unwavering determination, and confidence in matching up to compatriots to make her opinions heard forcefully should inspire everyone especially younger women and those who might have not had the opportunity of formal education.

The Flagbearer, Dr Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr, National Executives and the entire membership of GCPP conveys our heartfelt condolence to the family and the Ghana Freedom Party. Although it is difficult to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you all.

Ghana has lost a gem and we use this opportunity to call for a state burial for Madam Akua Donkor, Founder and Presidential Candidate of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Auntie Akua Donkor, damarifa due! Due ne amanehu! Citizen Ato Dadzie General Secretary.
