We've successfully delivered 3,077 infrastructure projects between 2017 and 2024 – GETFund

The Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), Dr. Richard Ampofo Boadu, has announced that the fund completed a total of 3,077 infrastructure projects across Ghana between 2017 and September 2024.

Speaking at a stakeholder forum held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Dr. Boadu provided a breakdown of the completed projects, which include 1,608 basic school facilities, 1,298 senior high school projects, two technical and vocational education projects, 16 E-Blocks, two model schools, and 153 tertiary-level infrastructure developments.

The forum, themed "Supporting the Delivery of Quality Education: The Impact of GETFund," highlighted the significant contribution of these projects to enhancing Ghana’s educational system.

Dr. Boadu noted that some of the completed projects were part of legacy initiatives initiated by the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, further emphasizing GETFund’s role in delivering quality infrastructure.

In addition to infrastructure development, Dr. Boadu revealed that all disabled students who applied for scholarships this year received the necessary financial support. "I’m pleased to report that our 2022 awardee is currently in the UK, enjoying his scholarship," he added.

GETFund has also made significant strides in digitalization, with all its projects now digitized for greater efficiency and transparency.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Chief Director Mrs. Maamle Andrews stressed the importance of educational infrastructure in promoting quality learning environments. She noted that students across Ghana’s 16 regions require better facilities to excel academically and access improved educational opportunities.

Dr. Boadu concluded by commending GETFund’s impressive performance from 2017 to 2024, with the completion of thousands of projects that have positively impacted education in the country.
