At a press conference held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Sokode Gbogame, the community called for government intervention in the dispute.
They warned Togbe Fia Kwaku III to withdraw his letter banning the 2024 Yam Festival celebrations.
The community emphasized that any claims made by Togbe Fia Kwaku III should be backed by a certified true copy of his gazetted extract.
The people of Sokode Gbogame stated, "We are peace-loving people, but we will not accept any compromise on peace."
The community leaders demand Togbe Fia Kwaku III to revoke the gazette of Mr. Godwin Dzisawu as Divisional Chief of Sokode Lokoe.
They call for a forensic audit into Togbe Fia Kwaku III's gazette and resolution of the Mankradoship dispute.
The community advises the Kwakofi and Afego families to unite and appoint a legitimate Paramount Chief for Sokode Traditional Area to curb the looming dangers.
According to the community members who clad in traditional Asafo dresses while singing at the press conference, failure to comply with these demands will result in Sokode Gbogame asserting independence and not recognizing any Paramount Chief.
The community remains resolute in its stance, seeking a peaceful resolution to the chieftaincy dispute.
However, the Gbogame community has announced duly the start of their yam festival with the town while awaiting Togbe Fia Kwaku III to withdraw his letter to the Ghana Police Service to lift the ban on the celebration.
