The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially approved nine political parties and four independent candidates to participate in the general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
In a statement issued on September 20, 2024, and signed by Samuel Tetteh, the Deputy Chairman of Operations, the EC confirmed that the following political parties have met all necessary requirements to contest the presidential race: the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Convention People’s Party (CPP), All People’s Party (APC), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and National Democratic Party (NDP).
The EC also cleared four independent candidates—Alan Kyerematen, George Twum-Barima-Adu, Nana Kwame Bediako, and Kofi Koranteng—to appear on the ballot for the much-anticipated election.
