TECHAiDE, partners sign pact to rollout Education Innovation Labs project impacting over 10,000 students
TECHAiDE, a Ghanaian social enterprise focused on enhancing education through technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with its partners to rollout the ambitious Education Innovation Labs (Ednolabs) project.
The two-year project aims to establish 20 modern computer labs known as "Ednolabs" equipped with TECHAiDE's proprietary ASANKA technology across 12 regions in Ghana.
The Education Innovation Labs are state-of-the-art learning environments powered by ASANKA, designed to enhance educational quality and accessibility in Africa's primary and junior high schools using innovative technologies.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Accra on Wednesday, September 18, Kafui Prebbie, CEO of TECHAiDE said "This is one of our biggest initiatives to bring together people within the EdTech ecosystem to provide access to digital education tools and content for underserved communities without internet."
Some key goals of the Ednolabs project include reaching over 10,000 students, training more than 1,900 teachers, and conducting research to demonstrate how technology can improve educational outcomes especially in rural areas.
The labs will be set up in 205 schools grouped into cohorts in 4 districts - Accra, Gomoa, Bogoso and Kyebi.
Nana Gyamfi Adwabour, Executive Director of the Center for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), who delivered the keynote address commended the partnership.
“The traditional brick and mortar system has to be augmented with technology. I am happy to see all stakeholders working together to build a future-proof education for our people,” he noted.
Nana Adwabour emphasized the importance of gathering data through this project to drive decision-making.
“The name of the game is evidence-based, is data. Without data, we cannot say educational technology has improved," he noted.
The Ednolabs will be equipped with devices like ASANKA which provide offline access to localized digital content. Teachers will also be trained on integrating innovative teaching technologies.
It is hoped that this initiative will contribute significantly to Ghana's attainment of UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
